A love of sport and a passion for painting have led the artist VINCENT SCILLA to create these masterful oil paintings of baseball that capture not only the essence of the sport, but the spirit in which it’s played. A childhood fascination with picture cards featuring baseball players against the advertising backdrops of their ball parks led to this series of paintings of ballplayers from Brooklyn, New York, Chicago, and Cincinnati. The 15 paintings featured in this BASEBALL Postcard Set evoke a time in America before television when the sport was new and the baseball players themselves represented the “everyman”.
